Nick's Playroom
In March 2020, Nick’s Power of Play was given a new obstacle. COVID-19 affected just about everyone in the world, and my organization was no different. After having my first ever event inside of a hospital, everything was shut down. It felt like all my hard work was going to have to be put on hold.
Playing Online
While brainstorming ideas on how to help people in the meantime, I conjured up a plan that would eventually help revitalize this organization. This plan was very simple: If I can’t play with kids in person, then why not play online?
I eventually decided that the platform that my organization would use to play with the children would be “Discord”. This application gave me the opportunity to continue to do what I love (playing video games with kids), while also being completely safe and secure.
NPOP currently is having sessions at A.I. DuPont Nemours Hospital, and is working with other hospitals to bring this service to their kids.
